Mexico

The Great pyramid of Cholula

Mexico Puebla ~ The site is untouched and is in the shadow of the Volcano, Popocatepetl ("El Popo"). 
Some say a giant built it, called Xelhua ; Built over a period of a thousand years, from the third century B.C. to the ninth century A.D.; The Spanish built a church on it in the sixteenth century.

Teotihuacan~The Pyramid of the Sun

Teotihuacan ~ Literally translates as the place “Where gods are Created”, Teotihuacan was clearly a city of significant religious importance to its inhabitants

The Pyramid of the Moon

..is the second largest pyramid in Teotihuacan, Mexico. Locals called it Tenan, which in Nahuatl, means “mother or protective stone.”

The name Uxmal means ‘thrice-built’ in Mayan. This refers to the construction of its highest structure, the Pyramid of the Magician which was built on top of existing pyramids.In this case, five stories

The design of the step pyramid has special astronomical significance. Each face of the pyramid has a stairway with 91 steps [4 x 91 = 364] - Counting the top as a step, adds up to 365 =1 year

Tulum

Mexico State, Quintana Roo Municipality ~ Earliest inscription AD 564 1200 and 1450. Tulum was one of the last cities inhabited and built by the Mayans; It was at its "height" between the 13th and 15th centuries and managed to survive about 70 years after the Spanish began occupying Mexico.

Chacchoben Mayan Ruins

Mexico
Settlement by the Maya at the site is estimated at 200 BC, and the structures date from 700 AD. Dr. Peter Harrison stumbled upon this site while flying a helicopter over Mexico in June 1972  

Tikal

..is the ruins of an ancient city found in a rainforest in Guatemala. In the Region, Petén Department. Tikal was the capital of a conquest state that became one of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Maya.

Gran Plaza



The tomb of Jasaw Chan K'awiil I was discovered by archaeologists in 1962. It was entered through the roof of the tomb after exploratory tunneling from the bottom of the temple stairway.

Peru

Huaca del Sol

 Moche Valley, Peru
There is a 120 ft high pyramid on the Peruvian north coast. The site lies at the foot of Cerro Blanco, an obvious landmark from space for this ceremonial/feeding center (Hadingham, 1987).

La Huanca Pyramid of Caral

At 2,600 BC, this is the oldest centre of civilization in the Americas.A quipu is the knot system used in Andean civilizations to record information.

Nazca Lines

Peru
Originally the Lines were made by trails left by the first space visitors. Elaborate lines, shapes and figures were added by later generations in an attempt to signal the gods to return.

Cahuachi    

Ancient Ceremonial Center in Ica State, Peru. The largest pyramid on the site is 25 m high and 100 m long. It is a natural hill topped with multiple layers of adobe brick, built, added to and revised over the years of use.

Machu Picchu

 ...is by nature mysterious. And it has kept many researchers puzzled for years. Machu Picchu. Lost city of the Incas have used many myths and symbols left by the Inca culture.

Ollantaytambo Peru

Dating back to the reign of 15th-century Emperor Pachacuti who conquered the region. The town of Ollantaytambo contains some of Peru's best-preserved Inca ruins.

Puma Punku 

..is part of a large temple complex or monument group that is part of the Tiwanaku Site in Bolivia. Assembling the walls of Pumapunku, each stone was finely cut to interlock with the surrounding stones, the blocks fit together like a puzzle, forming load-bearing joints without the use of mortar.

The Cromlech of the Almendres megalithic complex

(or Almendres Cromlech), located near Guadalupe, in the civil parish of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, municipality of Évora, This archaeological site consists of several megalithic structures: cromlechs, and menhir stones, the first belonging to the so-called "megalithic universe of Évora"

Egypt

The Pyramids of Giza


Great Pyramid of Giza

Ancient name; Khufu's Horizon/Constructed Circa. 2560–2540 BC. ~ Al Haram, Giza, Egypt
Logistics;  One block of stone had to be laid exactly in place every 3 1/2 minutes 24 hours a day for 20 years. Its construction ended in 2,560 BC.

The Pyramid of Khafre

Also known as the Pyramid of Chephren, is the second-tallest and second-largest of the Ancient Egyptian Pyramids of Giza.

Pyramid of Menkaure

 located on the Giza Plateau in the southwestern outskirts of Cairo, Egypt, is the smallest of the three Pyramids of Giza.

The Djoser step Pyramid

Saqqara, Egypt /Constructed 2667–2648 BC
At Saqqara ~ The oldest complete stone building complex known in history was built: Djoser's step pyramid, built during the third dynasty.

The Buried Pyramid 

(also called the Pyramid of Sekhemkhet) is an unfinished step pyramid constructed ca. 2645 BC for Sekhemkhet Djoserty. Sekhemkhet Djoserty was also the successor to the better-known pharaoh Djoser, who was buried in his famous step pyramid at Saqqara.

Colossi of Memnon

These two, gigantic Statues of Amenhotep III were originally situated in front of his Mortuary temple, which was destroyed for unknown reasons!

Medinet Habu, Luxor.

Medinet Habu,"City of Habu" was Djamet, meaning males and mothers. " Its holy ground was believed to be where the Ogdoad, the four pairs of first primeval forces of chaos in Egyptian Mythology.

Abu Simbel is an archaeological site in Egypt housing a series of incredible Ancient Egyptian monuments, especially a number of rock temples.

Great Ziggurat ~ Pyramid of Ur

Sumerians. City of Ur - Iraq. The reconstructed Ziggurat [Pyramid] under Saddam Hussein in the 1980's.




India

Konark Sun Temple

"Here the language of stone surpasses the language of human" — Rabindranath Tagore
The name 'Konark derives from the combination of the Sanskrit words, Kona (corner or angle) and Arka (sun),in reference to the temple which was dedicated to the Sun God Surya.
